Hello nice to meet you, I’m Bertha Quintero.

Allow me to introduce myself as an artist who transitioned from being a professional in the Computer Science field.

My Journey:

I always wondered and had an interest in art and spent a lifetime just thinking about it, then 5 years ago on Christmas my husband gave me a starter watercolor set…so begins this chapter of my life. I researched various styles and techniques along with studying the old masters.

Using Youtube was a good source of information and instruction of how to approach painting. The problem was it was difficult since I was not tracking or following a specific artist, so with that I knew I had to seek an experienced artist to connect with Marion Dutton an ACI-Alexander Certified Instructor online from London, England.

It was clear from the outset that securing top quality brushes, supplies and paints would provide better results and an improved finished piece.

Understanding the how’s of color values, mixing and canvas prep was clearly the correct path to achieve beautiful results. At this point as I continue developing as an artist doing some commission pieces and challenging myself realizing I needed to learn what I enjoy doing best; pet portraits, landscapes, seascapes or still life?

So I invite you to journey with me as I grow as an artist knowing I love creating and providing a piece that inspires and has a lasting positive effect on you. I appreciate you stopping by and browsing my work, supporting my efforts. Should you find making a purchase timely...then again I thank you.

~ "My process and approach to creating my art pieces." ~

Each painting is created with careful attention to detail by custom blending of oil pigments. The palette values are blended from scratch to achieve a unique look.

I begin by using stretched canvas on a frame which is usually already primed with Gesso, however I apply an additional 1 to 3 coats with light sanding between coats…then hand draw my subject matter.

Once a piece is completed a few weeks later once it has dried, we will apply a non yellowing Varnish that enhances the color and seals the surface.

Our frames are custom made from domestic and exotic solid woods which are rarely stained and prefer the natural beauty of the species and finished with a blend of bees wax and linseed oil.

To secure the art piece we use a 75 pound hanging wire which is clear vinyl coated. The use of the best materials and brushes of natural Siberian red sable bristles from England, Germany and Europe helps produce a quality piece.

I have done some commission work of animals, people, scenery and bible scenes.

My preferred genre is what is in my heart at the time and my interest varies depending on time of year and interest.

We thank you for your interest and support as we continue the journey of evolving my art to the next level as I believe we should never stop learning and growing as an artist and person.
